ABOUT NGABWE

Ngabwe is found in the North-western part of Central Province, about143 Kilometres from Kabwe, the Provincial Capital of Central Province. The District is bordered by Mpongwe to the North, Chibombo to the South, Kasempa to the West, Mumbwa to the South- West and Kapiri Mposh to the East. The District can also be accessed through Mpongwe District.
Ngabwe has a population of 42.104 as per 2022 Census.The climate is SUBTROPICAL and has annual average rainfall of 1,200mm. Average temperature range between 16°C and 30°C.
The Economic activity of the District is predominantly FISHING and AGRICULTURE. About 80% of the population depend on fishing. This is done on a large scale for different economic reasons.
Farming is also done on a small scale. The major crops produced are Maize, Soya beans, Sorghum and Groundnuts.
The District is endowed with vast plains, rivers and swamps that support rice production, maize as well as fish- farming.
The District has LIVESTOCK, making it a strategic destination for investment in dairy products, meat processing, leather, animal feed processing.

Bee keeping, honey processing and poultry are other areas which provide rich and dynamic investment opportunities.

Ngabwe has MINERAL deposits such as Gold, Platinum, Copper, Lead and Zinc.
The Local Authority is committed to facilitating and enhancing investment in this sector through Public Private Partnership (PPP) as promulgated by the President and indeed through other business means in the advancement of socio- economic development.
The Kafue River passes right through the District for over 120 Kilometers. This is a beckon to the TOURISM INDUSTRY to explore a great opportunity for tourism and recreational facilities.
In addition to this, Ngabwe is home to animal species such as Lions, Buffaloes, Hippos, Waterbuck and other wildlife in their natural habitat.
A good ROAD facilitates movement of goods and services and gives people the opportunity to engage into social interactions. This is why through the 2022 CDF, the Local Authority is carrying out spot improvement of the Ngabwe -Kabwe Road with cooperating partners. This has reduced the cost of doing business.
Ngabwe is endowed with a lot of WATERWAYS and has the potential of investment in water development and increase availability of water resources in the District.
The District has both arable land as well as land industrial zones.
Labour is readily available for both skilled and unskilled.
Ngabwe has an abundance of poltical and Social Stability, simple and favourable investment procedural requirements which Includes democratic system of governance (WDCs in 8 wards) regular democratic and predictable general elections.
