The main objective of the Works Department is to construct and maintain public and Council infrastructure. Director of Works heads the department.

The main functions of the Engineering Department are:

i.) Construction and maintenance of roads and drainages.

ii.) Provision of fire services in order to prevent loss of life and destruction of property.

iii) Maintenance of council buildings.

1. iv) Monitoring of construction works and projects.
2. v) Repair and maintenance of the Council’s fleet of vehicles and machinery.
3. vi) Installation and maintenance of electrical systems along road networks and general Council infrastructure.

vii) Creation and maintenance of parks and gardens.

viii) Quantifying project works.

1. ix) Provision of architectural services.
